Defiance, Inc., Names Schumacher Vice President of Marketing and Corporate DevelopmentCLEVELAND, July 2 -- Defiance, Inc. has named Cliff Schumacher vice president of marketing and corporate development, a new position at the company. He will be based in the Detroit area. Schumacher comes to Defiance from ACMI, Inc., a manufacturer of aluminum automotive components. ACMI, based in Southfield, Michigan, is a joint venture of CMI and Alcoa with annual sales of $40 million. At ACMI, Schumacher was responsible both for sales to General Motors and for marketing and business development. Prior to joining ACMI in 1995, Schumacher worked for Alcan Aluminum for seven years, including two years as business development manager for Alcan Extrusions and three years as business manager for Alcan Automotive Castings. Earlier in his career he was with E.I. Du Pont de Nemours and Company, Himont Plastics and Ford Motor Company. "We are pleased to add Cliff to our team. With his long experience in marketing and business development, we are confident that he will help us in our strategic approach to our operating businesses," said Jerry A. Cooper, president and chief executive officer of Defiance, Inc. "He will be responsible for identifying and analyzing business development opportunities, including everything from acquisitions and joint ventures to new markets and new products." Schumacher holds a B.S. in civil engineering and an M.S. in Ceramic Engineering from Penn State University and an M.B.A. from the University of Michigan. His professional affiliations include the Society of Plastic Engineers, Society of Automotive Engineers and the American Ceramic Society. Defiance is recognized as a world-class supplier of tooling systems, testing services and specialty anti-friction bearings and precision-machined products to the U.S. transportation industry, with headquarters in Cleveland, Ohio.
