New Chief Financial Officer for AutolivSTOCKHOLM, Sweden, July 2 -- The current Chief Financial Officer and Vice President Finance of Autoliv Inc. , Mr. Wilhelm Kull, has decided to exercise his right to retire at the age of 63 in May 1999. To replace him, Autoliv has employed Mr. Hans Biorck, who has been working as a consultant for Autoliv and other major companies since 1997, when he resigned his position as Chief Financial Officer & Executive Vice President of Esselte AB, an office equipment company listed on the Stockholm Stock Exchange. Between 1985 and 1990, Mr. Biorck was Chief Financial Officer of Esselte Business Information Systems, the first Swedish company to list its shares on the New York Stock Exchange in 1985. During his twenty years of employment with Esselte, Mr. Biorck worked for more than seven years at the company's London office. Hans Biorck, age 47, holds a Master of Business Administration from the Stockholm School of Economics. Mr. Biorck will start as Treasurer with Autoliv on September 1, 1998, and become the company's Chief Financial Officer and Vice President of Finance early next year. Autoliv Inc. develops and manufactures automotive safety systems for all major automotive manufacturers in the world. The company has 60 wholly owned subsidiaries and joint ventures with close to 20,000 employees in 27 vehicle-producing countries. In addition, the company has eight technical centers around the world, including 19 test tracks, more than any other automotive safety supplier. Sales in 1997 totaled US $3.3 billion and net income US $185 million. The company's shares are listed on the New York Stock Exchange , its Swedish Depositary Receipts on the Stockholm Stock Exchange (Stockholm: ALIV) and its stock options on the Chicago Board Options Exchange (Chicago: ALV)
