Symons International Group Announces the Acquisition of Glenn Brothers and the Expansion of Geo AgPLUS

INDIANAPOLIS--July 1, 1998--Today in Indianapolis, IN, Symons International Group, Inc., announces that its crop division, IGF Insurance Company, has completed the acquisition of Glenn Brothers and the expansion of Geo AgPLUS(TM). Glenn Brothers has been specializing in crop land measurement and grid soil sampling. The combination of Glenn Brothers and IGF's precision farming programs will expand Geo AgPLUS(TM), which does grid soil sampling and global positioning satellite mapping. Geo AgPLUS(TM) provides to the farmer the soil sampling results combined with fertility maps and the software that is necessary to run their precision farming program.
Grid soil sampling, when combined with precision farming, allows the farmer to apply just the right amount of fertilization, thus balancing the soil for a maximum crop yield. Precision farming increases the yield to the farmer, reduces the cost of unnecessary fertilization and enhances the environment by reducing overflows of fertilization into the ecosystem. Geo AgPLUS(TM) is an IGF Insurance Company trademarked precision farming division that is now marketing its fee based products to the farmer. This section of the crop industry is estimated to reach gross sales of $3 billion. IGF, with over 115 full-time field personnel will benefit through brand loyalty to the farmer, help the environment by reducing unnecessary fertilization and gain increased revenue through fee based income.
The impact of precision farming is just beginning to be felt. Demand is increasing rapidly for a one-stop solution that combines soil sampling and GPS technology (which precisely regulates the farmer's implements).
Symons International Group's crop division, IGF, has now expanded with this acquisition to cover the three distinct phases of production agriculture.
