Federal-Mogul Powertrain Systems Receives Copeland Hallmark Award
    SOUTHFIELD, Mich., July 1 -- Federal-Mogul Corporation's
Powertrain Systems facility in Wausau, Wisconsin has received the
Copeland Hallmark Award for outstanding performance as a supplier from
Copeland Corporation, the largest producer of refrigeration compressors,
headquartered in Sydney, Ohio. The award is presented to only 5 percent of
Copeland's suppliers.
"Receiving this award from Copeland is an outstanding achievement that we
are very proud of," said Tom McCarty, plant manager, Wausau. "It speaks very
highly of the commitment that our employees have made to continuously improve
our quality system."
Bob Burns, supplier quality engineer, Copeland Corporation, presented the
Hallmark Award to Federal-Mogul employees McCarty and Mark Marchello, sales,
Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
At the presentation, Burns commented on the fact that there is no date on
the plaque, saying, "Quality never goes out of date. As long as Federal-Mogul
continues its top quality output of piston rings to Copeland, it will be
considered a Hallmark supplier." Copeland looks for a 25 percent improvement
from their suppliers, following this award. Burns added, "In your case,
you're at zero PPM, now it's your challenge to continue your quality driven
processes."
Federal-Mogul manufactured and shipped over 1,100,000 parts for Copeland
in 1997 without any defects. Federal-Mogul also holds a record of zero
defects to date for 1998.
As the largest producer of refrigeration compressors, Copeland
manufactures compressors up to 100 horsepower. Copeland deals in commercial
and industrial units, including refrigeration compressors, heat pumps, ice
makers and chillers.
Headquartered in Southfield, Michigan, Federal-Mogul is a $5 billion
automotive parts manufacturer providing innovative solutions and systems to
global customers in the automotive, light truck, heavy-duty, farm and
industrial markets. The company was founded in 1899. For more information on
