Record-Breaking Broken Record: American Honda Sets Another Mark
TORRANCE, Calif., July 1 -- American Honda June car and truck
sales of 88,928 were up 7.7 percent and set a record for the third consecutive
month and fourth time this year, according to sales figures released today by
American Honda Motor Co., Inc. Contributing to the mark was an all-time
record month for the CR-V and record months for the Acura RL and TL models.
Honda Division sales of 79,156 were up 9.4 percent and also set a new June
record. The CR-V record sales of 9,296, were up 55.7 percent from last June.
Sales of the Honda Accord, the best-selling car in America, were up
15.5 percent to 34,672. Civic sales of 29,906 were up 2.3 percent.
"We'll ride this wave as long as the cars last," said Dick Colliver,
executive vice president. "The demand for the core products, the Accord,
Civic and CR-V, has never been stronger."
Acura Division sales of 9,772 were paced by a 59 percent jump in RL sales
to 1,538 and a 30.1 percent increase in TL sales to 2,328.
