Dana Corporation Honored as One of Nation's 10 Most Technologically Innovative Companies
TOLEDO, Ohio, June 29 -- Dana Corporation has
been named one of America's 10 most technologically innovative companies,
according to a listing published in the June 17, 1998, edition of PC Week, a
national information-technology news weekly.
Dana placed ninth on a list of 500 companies noted for technological
innovation. According to PC Week Editor in Chief Eric Lundquist, the
companies were ranked on the basis of how successfully they are using the
Internet, intranets, and extranets in their businesses.
"We are honored by this recognition," said Gary Corrigan, Dana's director
of Corporate Communications. "Frequent and thorough communication is at the
heart of Dana's corporate culture. And as technology advances, we must
continue to embrace it to more effectively communicate with our global
audiences."
To identify the "Fast Track 500" companies, PC Week collaborated with ZD
Market Intelligence, a computer and communication industry resource.
Together, they developed a methodology that uses specific Internet
technologies as indicators to rank the most innovative companies. Indicators
included items such as intranet penetration, intranet access to data warehouse
or operational systems, and deployment of electronic commerce applications.
"The 'Fast Track 500' pinpoints those leading-edge companies that are
using the Internet both strategically and tactically," said Stan Schatt,
Ph.D., vice president of research for ZD Market Intelligence. "These
companies are a technologically elite group that is using Internet technology
to solve real business problems."
Dana Corporation is a global leader in the engineering, manufacture, and
distribution of products and services for the automotive, engine, heavy truck,
off-highway, industrial, and leasing markets. Founded in 1904 and based in
Toledo, Ohio, Dana operates facilities in 30 countries and employs more than
50,000 people. The company reported record sales of $8.3 billion in 1997.
