ACER Incorporated Selects SDRC's Metaphase PDM Software; Estimated End User Value Exceeds $1 Million
CINCINNATI--June 29, 1998--Structural Dynamics Research Corporation , the PDM market leader, today announced that Acer Inc., a member of The Acer Group, a large computer and software manufacturer based in Taiwan, has placed an order for Metaphase(R) Enterprise(TM) product data management (PDM) software. ACER estimates that it will purchase Metaphase software and services with an end user value exceeding $1 million during the course of its Metaphase PDM implementation. The order was placed through Alpha Precision Instrumentation Corporation (APIC), a longtime SDRC Metaphase distributor in Taiwan. SDRC and APIC will both share in the proceeds of this transaction.Acer Inc. plans to roll out its Metaphase Enterprise implementation at multiple sites over a 12-month period beginning this month. Acer Inc.'s PDM system contains four modules: Component Information Management, Product Configuration Management, Engineering Change Control, and Engineering Document Management. Acer Inc. will use Metaphase Enterprise to manage all product-related information in these modules, including components, documents and product structure, and to manage processes. These modules will also support new product introduction and engineering change control process management associated with the workflow features of PDM.
Acer Inc. will roll out its Metaphase implementation before mid-1999. Metaphase's implementation and service capability were factors in Acer Inc.'s decision to use Metaphase Enterprise.
