TREMEC manufactures high performance transmissions for a wide variety of passenger cars and light trucks. The Shingo Prize is considered one of the "Triple Crown" of industrial excellence awards, along with the Baldridge National Quality Award and the Deming Prize. The award promotes world-class manufacturing and recognizes companies that excel in productivity and process improvement, quality enhancement, and customer satisfaction. The philosophy of the Shingo Prize is that world-class status may be achieved through focused improvements in core manufacturing processes, implementing lean, just-in-time philosophies and systems, eliminating waste, and achieving zero defects, while continuously improving products and costs. "We are extremely honored to receive the Shingo Award," said Francisco Ramirez, General Manager at TREMEC. "This is a strong validation that we are on the right track in our quest for excellence. We also understand that in order to stay at the leading edge of customer satisfaction, we have to hold fast to our commitment to continuous improvement. This honor truly belongs to our employees, who have made TREMEC a world leader in manufacturing excellence." Only a handful of companies in the United States, Canada, and Mexico receive the prize, which has been given out annually since 1989.
