Global Engineering Documents to Sell Acoustical Society of America Documents

ENGLEWOOD, Colo.--June 26, 1998--Global Engineering Documents (Global), an IHS Group Company, signed an agreement with the Acoustical Society of America (ASA) to distribute their industry standards, specifications, drafts and related documents.
Global will reproduce, market and sell ASA "National Hardcopy Documents" worldwide. "National Hardcopy Documents" include standards, specifications, drafts and related documents originated and developed by ASA. The "International Hardcopy Documents" will be available from Global in the United States only. Those are comprised of standards, specifications, drafts and related documents written in cooperation with ANSI, ISO and IEC and are designated international technical standards.
Many of the almost 7,000 ASA members are active in the development of acoustical standards regarding terminology, measurement procedures and criteria for determining the effects of sound and vibration. Society members are also involved in the studies of noise, its measurement, its effects and noise reduction to improve the human environment, thereby servicing the public, industry and consumers, as well as federal, state and local governments. The ASA stays abreast of various existing and developing acoustical fields by establishing technical committees and groups responsible for reporting on developments and membership needs in the specialized areas.
Global Engineering Documents is the world's leading distributor of industry, U.S., International, and National standards, specifications, and publications in hardcopy. Global serves more than 60,000 customers in 120 countries. IHS Group companies deliver engineering, energy, and regulatory information, including AES standards.
