Manugistics and Benchmarking Partners Jump Start the Motor Vehicles and Parts Industries with a Collaborative Supply Chain Initiative
DETROIT, June 24 -- Manugistics Group, Inc. ,
the world's most recognized name in supply chain management, announced today
that it is the first company to join a working group formed to introduce an
industry-standard Collaboration, Planning, Forecasting, and Replenishment
(CPFR) initiative to the motor vehicles and parts industry. Together,
Manugistics and Benchmarking Partners, a research and consulting firm
specializing in demand and supply chain strategy, will lead an industry group
comprised of leading automotive suppliers, manufacturers, and distributors.
The working group will develop an Internet-based technology framework to
support trading partner collaboration in the automotive supply chain. CPFR
will enable companies to achieve bottom-line benefits of implementing an
extended supply chain solution, including speed-to-market; faster customer
demand responsiveness; improved profitability; decreased cycle time; and
increased customer service.
"Integration, optimization, and collaboration will be integral to the
future success of motor vehicles and parts players across the supply chain as
they strive for increased profitability and enhanced customer service," said
Dan Wecker, director of motor vehicles and parts industry marketing for
Manugistics. "Manugistics is committed to delivering customer-centric supply
chain optimization solutions to ensure rapid results throughout the motor
vehicles and parts supply chain."
Manugistics, and Benchmarking Partners sponsored a joint executive
briefing session to address the role of supply chain management within the
motor vehicles and parts industry. The conference, held recently in Detroit,
was attended by more than 20 major auto makers, parts manufacturers and
distributors and addressed several key collaboration issues within the
extended supply chain.
"Companies today are collaborating across the supply chain to link
suppliers, distributors and manufacturers together, enabling organizations to
ensure rapid delivery of products to their customers," said John Waraniak,
industry director for the automotive practice at Benchmarking Partners. "We
are excited to be able to prepare automotive enterprise stakeholders -- from
parts suppliers through retailers -- for the next millennium by initiating a
partner collaboration strategy that will bring competitive advantage to all
parties involved."
In addition to supporting the Benchmarking Partners CPFR initiative,
Manugistics has extended its commitment to the motor vehicles and parts
industry by establishing a center of excellence in the Detroit area at 2000
Town Center, Southfield, MI. This will help motor vehicles and parts
companies rapidly develop and implement customer centric supply chain
solutions. For more information on Manugistics' motor vehicles and parts
