Wescast Announces New President and Chief Executive Officer

    BRANTFORD, Ontario--June 23, 1998--Richard W. LeVan, Chairman and CEO of Wescast Industries Inc. (TSE:WCS.A) is pleased to announce Raymond T. Finnie has accepted the position of President and Chief Executive Officer of the Company. His start date will be confirmed this week.
    Finnie joins Wescast following five years as President and Chief Executive Officer of a North American division of a worldwide automotive supplier. He brings more than ten years of international, automotive manufacturing experience to his new role.
    LeVan will be involved with Finnie through a transition period that is expected to take approximately six months. Succeeding this transition, LeVan will continue in his role of Chairman of the Board of Directors.
    Wescast Industries Inc. headquartered in Wingham, Ontario, is the largest automotive parts supplier of exhaust manifolds for passenger cars and light trucks in the world. The Company also produces pressure retaining high-alloy cast steel pump components for the petrochemical, pulp and paper and food processing industries. The Company has five facilities throughout southwestern, Ontario and employs approximately 1300 people.
