Detroit Diesel Corporation Announces New Appointment At Florida Detroit Diesel-Allison, Inc.DETROIT, June 22 -- Detroit Diesel Corporation announced effective immediately, Osvaldo (Ozzie) Marchante is appointed Chairman and CEO for Florida Detroit Diesel-Allison, Inc. (Florida DD-A), the Detroit Diesel and Allison Transmission distributor for Florida. Lee Walquist will continue in his capacity as President of Florida DD-A. As previously announced, Ozzie will also continue to hold the position of Chairman of Detroit Diesel-Allison de Mexico, S.A. de C.V. (DD-A de Mexico), the Detroit Diesel and Allison Transmission distributor for Mexico. Ozzie was previously General Parts Manager for Key Power and then Vice President - Parts for Florida DD-A before becoming Vice President and Regional Manager for Detroit Diesel's Latin America region. In 1995, Ozzie moved to Mexico where he assumed the duties of President of DD-A de Mexico and successfully managed this distributorship during the difficult Mexican economic and financial crisis period. During this period, Detroit Diesel's penetration of the heavy-duty truck market has grown to approximately 25%, nearly double its 1994 base. In addition, Detroit Diesel remains the dominant power choice for heavy-duty buses and coaches in Mexico. Ozzie brings a great deal of experience and capability to this new assignment at a time when Detroit Diesel is launching several new product lines, including a complete new line of four-cycle marine diesel engines. The sale and aftermarket support of marine engines is of particular importance in this territory. The addition of Mr. Marchante to the team at Florida DD-A will further increase Detroit Diesel's support of this territory. Ozzie will be located at the distributor's new Ft. Lauderdale facility which is the focal point for the Company's marine activity and which will become the corporate headquarters for Florida DD-A.
