SPX Corporation Acquires Tecnotest
    MUSKEGON, Mich., June 22 -- SPX Corporation today
announced it has acquired Tecnotest S.r.l. for an undisclosed amount.  SPX
purchased an 89% interest in the company, headquartered in Parma, Italy, and
has the option to purchase the remaining 11%.
    Tecnotest designs, manufactures and distributes hand-held scan tools and
other hand-held electronic equipment, diagnostic software, gas and diesel
emissions testing equipment and safety test lane products for the vehicle
service industry.  With approximately 100 employees and nearly $25 million in
revenues, the Tecnotest brand name is well known throughout Europe.
    John B. Blystone, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of SPX
Corporation said, "The integration of Tecnotest's technology, products and
distribution into our existing business is a major step to grow our Service
Solutions business globally.  Tecnotest's engineering capabilities and strong
