Bing Group Company Earns Recognition from General MotorsDETROIT, June 17 -- Superb Manufacturing, Inc. was recently honored in Mexico City with the 1997 GM Supplier-of-the-Year award. General Motors Worldwide Purchasing honored 182 supplier companies who exceed specific performance standards in the area of quality, service, and price. The awardees were selected from a GM supply base of more than 30,000 suppliers worldwide. The GM Supplier of the Year awards are a long-standing tradition at GM. This is the sixth year for GM's program that recognizes supplier companies worldwide. Superb Manufacturing, Inc. is affiliated with The Bing Group, L.L.C. which consists of 6 companies located both in metro Detroit and the Detroit Empowerment Zone. The Bing Group, a vertically-integrated automotive parts supplier, is ranked among the Top 5 African-American companies in the country and was recently named 1998 Company of the Year by Black Enterprise Magazine. With revenues of $227 million projected for 1998, The Bing Group has approximately 800 employees of which 87% represent minority groups.
