Toyota Certified Used Vehicle Sales Record Best-Ever Month in May
TORRANCE, Calif., June 17 -- May was the best month ever for
sales of Toyota Certified Used Vehicles.
The company reported that its participating dealers sold a record 8,538
certified used cars and trucks during the month, breaking the previous record
set in July 1997.
"This marked the fourth-consecutive best-ever month of the year," said
Guillermo Hysaw, corporate manager of the Used Vehicle Department for Toyota
Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc. He attributed the sales increase to growing
certified used vehicle activity among dealers, who are taking advantage of the
high number of Toyota vehicles coming off lease.
"These are high-quality, low-mileage cars and trucks, which offer
consumers an excellent alternative to purchasing a new or used vehicle," Hysaw
said.
The Toyota Certified Used Vehicle program, established in 1996, provides
the best pre-owned warranty in the industry. The warranty, from date of first
use, includes six-year, 100,000-mile powertrain coverage, as well as an
optional comprehensive 100,000- mile warranty. And, 24-hour roadside
assistance also is provided free of charge for one year.
All 1994 - 1998 Toyota models with less than 55,000 miles are eligible for
the program. Prior to sale, each vehicle receives a rigorous 128-point
inspection of all mechanical and safety functions, as well as overall
appearance considerations.
