Transcom To Receive A$5.6 Million To Commercialize Technology
PERTH, Australia, June 12 -- Transcom International Limited
today announced it will receive A$5.6 million to accelerate
its commercialization programs for the Company's proprietary automotive and
communications technologies.
The funds, of which $2.8 million have been paid, are part of a two-year
investment package arranged by the National Australia Bank Limited (National)
with the assistance of Coopers & Lybrand and Technology Resources Australia
Pty Ltd.
The money will be used for marketing the Transcom Natural Gas Vehicle
System (NGVS) to fleet operators in Australian capital cities and original
equipment heavy duty engine manufacturers in the US.
"Transcom is the recognized world leader in natural gas electronic fuel
injection and engine control systems," Peter Malone, Transcom Group Managing
Director, said today. "The independent accreditation in 1997 of a RABA engine
fitted with the Transcom system to meet year 2000 draft Euro 3 emission
standards has led to further international interest in the NGVS."
A portion of the funds also will be used to target niche markets in
Australia, Malaysia and Singapore for Transcom's Radio Area Network Data
(RAND) communications technology, Mr. Malone said.
"The Company's communications flagship product, the MD3000 mobile data
terminal, is being employed by major Australian transport and courier
companies, further strengthening Transcom's position as a leader in wireless
data technology. This injection of funds provides us with a tremendous
opportunity to accelerate our marketing and promotional programs."
