LucasVarity to Design and Develop Braking System for New Lincoln ModelsLIVONIA, Mich., June 11 -- LucasVarity plc announced today that its Light Vehicle Braking Systems (LVBS) division is to design and develop the complete base braking and actuation system for the 2000 Lincoln LS6 and LS8 models. LVBS braking components for these new models include front and rear calipers and rotors, the base booster/master cylinder assembly and a supplementary booster that enables electronic application of the brakes. LVBS is also responsible for the system integration of the front hub and bearing, and the rear hub. System components will be produced at LVBS facilities in North America, South America and Europe. LVBS actuation will also appear in North America in future Chrysler and Honda models. Victor Rice, Chief Executive of LucasVarity said, "Our participation in the Lincoln LS program is particularly significant because it is the first LucasVarity application of actuation for Lincoln in North America and is also Lincoln's first application of electronic actuation for the North American market. Moreover, these programs strengthen further our relationship with Ford Motor Company by adding passenger cars to the range of Ford truck and sport utility models using LucasVarity braking systems."
