GenCorp's Green Bay, Wisconsin Facility Achieves ISO-9002 Certification

    FAIRLAWN, Ohio, June 10 --  GenCorp Specialty Polymers' Green
Bay, Wisconsin facility has achieved ISO-9002 certification for its quality
management systems.  ISO-9002 is an international standard that assesses a
company's procedures for assuring quality production and installation
practices and sets specific requirements for certification.  The standard is
recognized worldwide as a way of certifying those companies that have the
right processes in place to enhance delivery of quality products to their
customers.
    "This latest achievement exemplifies our high quality image in the markets
we serve," said Marv Zima, President of GenCorp Specialty Polymers.  "Customer
paper mills who use latex coating products from our Green Bay plant can be
confident in knowing that GenCorp is doing the right things to promote
consistent quality in all phases of production."
    ISO-9002 certification is not only desirable; many international firms are
increasingly making it a requirement for their suppliers.  In North America,
ISO-9000 standards are rapidly finding their way into all industries that
demand global capability.
    "Although our Green Bay plant currently serves North American mills, many
of the parent companies are global players.  ISO certification demonstrates to
them that GenCorp's quality systems are among the finest in the world," said
Zima.
    "This significant accomplishment is a tribute to Green Bay Director of
Operations, David Lee, and all of our employees," he added.  "Their sense of
'ownership' of the processes in which they take part positively affects the
way we do business and ensures that the GenCorp name will always be known for
quality."
    GenCorp Specialty Polymers is a leader in styrene-butadiene latex and
other synthetic polymers for paper and paperboard coatings, carpet backing,
nonwoven fabric binders, tire cord adhesives and various specialty
applications.  In addition, Specialty Polymers' fiberglass in-mold coatings
and structural adhesives business received ISO-9001 and QS-9000 certification
in 1997.
