Goodyear Tire & Rubber Companys Selects M.W. Kellogg Company

The M.W. Kellogg Company Selected for Engineering and Procurement for Goodyear Tire and Rubber Expansion
    HOUSTON, June 8 -- The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company
has selected The M.W. Kellogg Company to provide engineering and procurement
services for its new chemical plant in Beaumont, Texas, adjacent to Goodyear's
synthetic rubber plant.  Kellogg will also design and procure parts of the
ongoing polyisoprene expansion in the existing plant.
    Goodyear is investing $144 million in the project, which represents part
of a $600 million overall investment in the largest expansion of its chemical
business.  The new plant will produce specialty polymers for Goodyear
businesses and other customers in the synthetic rubber industry.
    Ground breaking for the new facility is planned for the second quarter and
the facility is scheduled to come onstream in early 2000.
