Best-Ever May Sales Reported by Toyota's Chicago RegionCHICAGO, June 8 -- Toyota's Chicago Region posted record car sales in May of 6,927 vehicles, a 28 percent increase over May 1997 when 5,413 were sold. "Our North American-built vehicles, Camry and Corolla, as well as the Toyota Land Cruiser, all contributed to a record setting sales month for 1998," said Dave Camden, general manager of the Chicago Region. "Corolla had an impressive 68 percent sales gain and Camry continues its momentum with 2,997 sales, a 20 percent increase. A strong economy and consumer confidence enabled our dealers to mirror the entire Toyota Division by recording its best-ever May sales in its 41-year history." The Toyota Chicago Region includes 114 dealers in Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
