Versacom Incorporated Achieves IS0 9001 RegistrationDEARBORN, Mich., June 5 -- Versacom Incorporated, a marketing communications firm in Dearborn, was issued its ISO 9001 Certificate of Registration on May 20, 1998, with an effective date of March 20, 1998. This registration indicates that Versacom's quality system meets the stringent ISO 9000 standards. ISO stands for International Organization for Standardization, an organization with membership in nearly 100 countries. The ISO 9000 quality systems standard is a series of international standards which provide guidance in the development and implementation of an effective quality management system. ISO 9001 covers initial design and development of the product or service, all the way through production, installation and servicing. The process began last October with a two-day Pre-Assessment conducted by an auditor from KPMG Quality Registrar. This was followed in January by Document Review, during which the auditor reviewed Versacom's quality documents and made recommendations for any needed revisions. The actual Registration Assessment took place in mid-March. During this three-day assessment, the auditor reviewed quality documents and job files, as well as questioned employees to evaluate the company's quality system and verify that it is being used effectively in day-to-day operation. The results of this Registration Assessment were submitted to the KPMG Quality Registrar review board, which granted its approval on May 20. Now that Versacom is ISO 9001-registered, an auditor will return every nine months to verify that the quality system still works and is being followed. Versacom has been serving clients within Ford Motor Company, as well as other companies, for more than 25 years, and Versacom earned the prestigious Ford Q1 Award in January 1997. The company is located in Fairlane Commerce Park North, at Rotunda and Greenfield.
