AMETEK Names John Fjeldstad V.P. and G.M.

AMETEK Names John Fjeldstad as Vice President And General Manager of its Dixson Division
    PAOLI, Pa., June 3 -- AMETEK Inc. today announced
that it has named John K. Fjeldstad as vice president and general manager of
its Dixson Division, effective immediately.  He reports to Robert W. Chlebek,
president of AMETEK's Electronic Instruments Group.
    "We are pleased to welcome John Fjeldstad to AMETEK," said Frank S.
Hermance, president and chief operating officer.  "John's extensive general
management experience and his background in electrical and electronics
manufacturing are an excellent fit with our Dixson Division."
    Mr. Fjeldstad, 52, joins AMETEK from the Furon Company, where he was vice
president of its Electronics Business Unit since 1995 and general manager of
its Unitherm Division from 1993 to 1995.  His prior experience included vice
president of sales and marketing positions with Emerson Electric Company from
1985 to 1993.  He holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin
and a master's degree in business administration from St. Louis University.
    Dixson, a division of AMETEK's Electronic Instruments Group, is the
leading U.S. manufacturer of custom dashboard instruments and displays for
heavy trucks, construction, and agricultural equipment.  Its primary
operations are located in Grand Junction, Colo.
