Cooper Auto, Visteon Form Strategic Business Alliance To Supply Complete Wiper Systems
DEARBORN, Mich., June 3 -- Cooper Automotive Co. and Visteon
Automotive Systems have entered into a strategic business alliance that will
allow them to deliver complete wiper systems to automakers.
The alliance will marry Cooper Automotive's ANCO and Champion brand wiper
arms and blades with Visteon's motors and linkages. Both organizations will
cooperate in the design, development, manufacture, sale and service of the
systems.
"The alliance builds on Cooper Automotive's strong presence with vehicle
manufacturers in Europe with its Champion wiper products, and in the U.S. with
its ANCO wiper arms and blades," says Terry Graessle, vice president of Cooper
Automotive's OE Sales and Marketing - Worldwide. "It leverages the products
and market strengths of both Cooper and Visteon to offer automakers a complete
front and rear wiper system.
"Both the ANCO and Champion organizations represent the oldest and most
experienced members of the Cooper Automotive family," says Graessle. "We're
proud that the ANCO and Champion names and reputations will be connected with
Visteon Automotive Systems in this global enterprise and are excited about the
future of this relationship."
The alliance with Cooper Automotive builds on Visteon's ambitious growth
strategy and its charter to become the world's leading automotive supplier.
Last week, Visteon acquired Pol-Mot ZEM in Duszniki Zdroj, Poland, from
Pol-Mot holding company in Warsaw. Renamed Visteon ZEM SA, the plant employs
620 people and manufactures wiper systems and cooling and blower system
motors.
"We're in this business to make our customers successful by offering the
best in complete wiper systems," says Jim Wynalek, vice president and general
manager of Visteon's Exterior Systems Division. "Our customers will gain from
having access to the combined experience, expertise, innovation and global
resources of Cooper Automotive's wiper brands and Visteon.
"This alliance, coupled with our recent acquisition of Pol-Mot ZEM,
positions Visteon to provide complete wiper and washer systems to our
customers in both North America and Europe," Wynalek adds.
Cooper Automotive Co. is headquartered in Chesterfield, Mo., and has
original equipment sales and marketing operations in Troy, Mich. In addition
to the ANCO and Champion wiper products, Cooper Automotive also owns Champion
