BMW Reports Record May Sales Sales Increases Across All Model Lines
WOODCLIFF LAKE, N.J., June 2 -- BMW of North America, Inc.
just closed its best May ever, with monthly sales of 12,154 vehicles, an
increase of 9.4 percent over the same period last year. Year-to-date sales
increased 8.1 percent, to 55,560 compared to 51,366 in 1997.
Sales increased across all model lines but demand for 7 Series models was
especially strong, up 27 percent, with sales of 1,565.
Land Rover North America, Inc., a member of the BMW Group, reported May
sales of 1,937 vehicles and year-to-date sales of 7,565.
Consolidated U.S. May sales for the two companies were 14,091 units, up
5.4 percent (BMW: 12,154; Land Rover: 1,937) and consolidated year-to-date
sales were 63,125 vehicles, up 5.1 percent (BMW: 55,560; Land Rover 7,565).
