Land Rover Reports May Sales

    LANHAM, Md., June 2 -- Land Rover North America, Inc. today
reported May sales of 1,937, marking the best month to date in 1998.
    Charles R. Hughes, President, Land Rover North America, Inc., said, "While
the loss of Defender 90 has cut into our overall sales totals when compared to
1997, our core products of Discovery and Range Rover continue to be in high
demand.  May was our best month to date in 1998.  The programs we now have in
place, particularly the special 'Land Rover 50th Anniversary Lease' for the
Discovery, are proving to be quite attractive to a wide range of customers."
