ADI Awarded BEACON System Integration Services Contract For Automotive Chassis Control SoftwareANN ARBOR, Mich., May 29 -- Applied Dynamics International (ADI) today announced it has been awarded a contract to provide production- ready software generated by its BEACON Next Generation Controller Development Environment tool for a prominent automotive electronics manufacturer. Under the terms of the contract, ADI's System Integration Services (SIS) team will use BEACON to graphically specify and automatically generate chassis control (ABS, Traction Control and Vehicle Stability) software to safety- critical standards. The resulting code is targeted to run on the Motorola MC68HC12 microcontroller. Once developed, the software specifications can be reused for future programs, allowing the customer to reduce cycle time and overall development costs. "BEACON was evaluated by our customer and rated superior for its ability to create very compact and readable C code for multiple embedded controller targets," said John McIntosh, ADI's president and CEO. "BEACON also tested superior in the usage of RAM, ROM, and processor throughput, and in testability. Our SIS team proved BEACON's effectiveness in implementing a structured approach to software testing while reducing the customer's exposure to possible product liability risks." Mr. McIntosh further explained that "more and more of our automotive customers are finding that BEACON gives software engineers greater design responsibility, resulting in a more efficient and cost effective engineering process." BEACON is a productivity tool that allows an engineer to specify an embedded software design using hierarchical block diagrams. BEACON then automatically converts these diagrams into source code, and generates the unit test vectors. Also, BEACON exports design diagrams to a document preparation system to produce high-quality documentation. BEACON provides faster development cycles, fewer errors, reduced unit testing time, and improved product documentation. Applied Dynamics International is a supplier of advanced embedded software design and test tools for the automotive, off-highway, aerospace, electronics and other related industries. In addition to its Michigan headquarters, ADI has an international office in the United Kingdom, installations in 23 countries and representatives throughout the world.
