RECARO Captures Design and Technology Award For Its Artline Seat Covers
CLAWSON, Mich., May 26 -- RECARO was awarded Automotive &
Transportation Interiors Design and Technology Award for its innovative Trisit
(known as Artline in North America) seat cover system. The award was
presented to RECARO at Automotive & Transportation Interiors' fourth annual
Benefit Scholarship Awards Banquet on May 19 in Detroit, Mich.
RECARO's Artline seat cover system is a new production technology that
allows the simple manufacture of unique, individualistic, custom one-piece
seat covers. The technology utilizes a specialized weaving machine capable of
producing precision-contoured seat covers in 3-D. With the use of a
specialized scanner, virtually any color, pattern, or texture can be copied
and transferred into custom upholstery.
RECARO was among four other companies to receive this year's Design &
Technology Award. The Artline seat cover took first place honors in the
Manufacturing Technology category.
Entries in the Design & Technology Award competition were evaluated by a
six-person panel of judges on the basis of three criteria: originality,
innovation and value to the customer. One judge commented that RECARO's
Artline technology is "most ingenious and will influence seat design and
fabric/trim design also."
"It's an honor to have RECARO's new technology recognized by leading
members of the automotive interiors industry," said Douglas Eriksen, president
and chief executive officer of RECARO North America. "RECARO is committed to
providing its customers with innovative, world-class quality products.
Artline provides endless possibilities for customizing seats, and this
technology also will play an important role in RECARO Johnson Controls' goal
to meet increasing customer demands for individualized automotive interiors."
The Automotive & Transportation Interiors Design & Technology Awards were
created to stimulate creative thinking and encourage innovation in the
interiors industry. Both products and concepts that provide a notable benefit
to the end user or make a substantial contribution toward the advancement of
the transportation industry are honored.
