New Audi TT-Coupe, TT-Roadster Sports Cars Will be Equipped with Lear 'Seat 2000' Concept
    SOUTHFIELD, Mich., May 26 -- Lear Corporation's
KCS Division plant in Gyor, Hungary will produce seats for the new Audi TT-
Coupe and TT-Roadster. The new Audi seats are based on Lear's modular Seat
2000 concept.
Production of the TT-Coupe begins this month with initial deliveries set
for July. Lear will deliver TT seats on a JIT (just-in-time) basis from the
Gyor facility to the local Audi engine plant, Audi Hungaria Motor Kft., that
will produce the sports cars. Audi will send painted bodies from its
Ingolstadt, Germany plant for assembly in Gyor. Production of the TT-Roadster
will begin in autumn of this year.
The Lear seats for the new Audi models achieve advancements in safety,
design, quality, and comfort. The Seat 2000 concept is integrated into the
new Audi design, especially into the vehicle safety system. Lear used new
design and production methods in an advanced project management system to meet
ambitious development targets set by the Audi development team. Standard
equipment on the driver's seats include manual height adjustment. The
passenger seats have seat occupancy recognition (SOR). The Coupe folding rear
seat backrest is split 50:50.
