Lear 'Seat 2000' Concept Now in Production for Porsche Carrera and BoxsterSOUTHFIELD, MI, May 26 --- Lear Corporation's KCS Division plant in Besigheim, Germany is now producing seats for two of the world's premier sports cars, Porsche Carrera and Boxster. The project marks the first time Lear has supplied seats for Porsche vehicles. The new Porsche seats are based on Lear's modular Seat 2000 concept. The Porsche Carrera and Boxster seats are produced and shipped JIT (just-in-time) from Lear's Besigheim plant to nearby Zuffenhausen, where the cars are assembled. The Lear seats for the Carrera 996, known as the 911 in the U.S., achieve advancements in safety, design, quality, and comfort. The Seat 2000 concept is integrated into the new Porsche design, especially into the vehicle safety system. Lear used new design and production methods in an advanced project management system to meet ambitious development targets set by the Porsche development team.
