Detroit Auto Dealers Association Named Finalist for Governor's Service AwardsLANSING, Mich., May 21 -- The Michigan Community Service Commission recently named the Detroit Auto Dealers Association (DADA) as a finalist for the Fifth Annual Governor's Service Awards. The DADA was recognized as a Michigan business that has demonstrated innovation, growth, and a strong commitment to contribute to the community through its annual North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) Charity Preview event. Hosted by the Detroit Auto Dealer's Association, the NAIAS Charity Preview is the annual black-tie event that marks the official opening of the auto show. The 1998 NAIAS Charity Preview attracted 15,000 people and raised over $3.75 million for Detroit-area children's charities. Since its inception in 1976, more than $15 million has been raised to benefit local children's charities. Beneficiaries of the Charity Preview include: Barat Child and Family Services, Boys & Girls Clubs of Southeastern Michigan, Boys Hope/Girls Hope Detroit, The Children's Center, Children's Services of Northeast Guidance Center -- Assistance League, The Detroit Institute for Children, The Easter Seal Society, Children's Homes of Judson Center, March of Dimes and Detroit Police Athletic League. In addition to presenting the NAIAS and Charity Preview, the Detroit Auto Dealers Association supports more than 240 members with legislative and industry representation, educational programs and community relations activities.
