Bloomington Gold Returns to BloomingtonBLOOMINGTON, Ill., May 20 -- Bloomington Gold, the granddaddy of America's Chevy Corvette shows, is returning to its roots in Bloomington, Ill. after years of absence. This year's event is being held at the new Interstate Center, a 170 acre facility on the west side of Bloomington, less then a mile from the intersection of I-55, I-74 and I-39 in central Illinois. The new owners of Bloomington Gold, Dana Mecum and Kevin Collins, believe the show will be a unique experience for Corvette enthusiasts and the industry. Many of the traditional events at Bloomington Gold -- such as Judging (Certification, Survivor and Benchmark), the Swap Meet, GOLDfield, the Gold Mine show and sell, vendor displays, Special Collection, the Road Tour and the Bloomington Gold Hall of Fame -- have been improved. But it's the new additions that will make this year's event extra special. For example, the Special Collection Gallery, various on-site auctions for everything from Corvette parts and restoration specials to daily drivers and even the most collectible Corvettes in the world. Then there is the "Value Pak," exclusively for Corvette owners, that includes unlimited event access for two, special Corvette parking, a collectible event program, Road Tour participation, mementos and more -- all at a discounted price. Bloomington Gold starts on Thursday, June 25th and runs through Sunday, June 28th. General admission is just $10 per person per day. Children under 12 are free when accompanied by a paying adult. Admission includes access to all events on the grounds. The gates open at 7 a.m. each day. For information, call 888-42-GOLD-1. For twenty-six years Bloomington Gold has been the standard against which other Corvette shows have been judged. This year's Bloomington Gold is raising the bar. The four day event is expecting over fifty thousand participants and spectators. The show invites all car enthusiasts to join in this celebration of America's only true sport car, the Chevy Corvette.
