                      Cobo Center - Detroit - May 19-21

DETROIT, May 15 -- No other supplier in the world provides
the range and diversity of materials and applications for automotive interiors
as Loctite Corporation.
The modern passenger compartment contains 50 different Loctite adhesives,
sealants, and coatings applications, and not one of them is visible. All were
developed to address a particular engineering or assembly need.
"Loctite interior materials aren't slathered on by the bucketful," said
Matt Donelan, automotive marketing manager for Loctite. "They are created and
validated in close collaboration with OEM and Tier I customers, and are
applied in minute amounts to pinpointed areas for specific purposes."
Loctite interior applications help keep passengers safe, comfortable,
entertained, and informed. They are on door latches, steering columns, airbag
modules, electrical and electronic systems, climate controls, and lighting
systems. They reduce noise, squeak and vibration and are key elements in
interior ergonomics, functionality, and aesthetics.
As a full-service supplier, Loctite also designs, engineers, installs, and
maintains dispense systems and components that apply its specialty materials.
These range from electronic sensors and pneumatic valves to full workstations
with robots and ultra-violet curing lamps.
Loctite serves as project managers and consultants to the design and
assembly process, analyzing needs and developing materials and delivery
systems.
"We take full responsibility for all aspects of our applications,
everything from development and testing of materials to final assembly and
follow-up service," Donelan said. "When appropriate, we also help design
customer components to ensure that they are used most effectively and cost-
efficiently.
"Our worldwide network of technical centers in North America, Europe,
Japan, and South America collaborate with OEMs and Tier I suppliers in
developing and validating materials that simplify component design and
assembly, reduce costs, and enhance quality. No other chemical company offers
this turnkey approach."
Automakers are lavishing unprecedented amounts of attention and resources
on interiors, and are designing vehicles from the inside out, Donelan noted.
Hybrid materials and such advanced features as navigational systems,
intelligent seats, on-board offices, and voice command of phones, CDs, and
temperature controls have arrived and more are on the way.
"Most of them will function through the hidden presence of Loctite
adhesives, sealants, and coatings," he said.
