New PROPower Pumps up 76 Gasoline for Cleaner Burning, More Powerful PerformancePHOENIX, May 14 -- 76-brand gasoline is turning pro with PROpower, a new additive that burns cleaner and helps deliver better pick up and smoother acceleration. PROpower is the same additive that professional NASCAR Winston Cup drivers use when they fill up with 76-brand racing gasoline, the "Official Fuel" of NASCAR. "Just as NASCAR drivers use 76-brand gasoline with PROpower, drivers everywhere can also rely on 76 gasoline for optimum automotive performance," said Bill Shrader, vice president of marketing for Tosco Marketing Company, owner of 76-brand gasoline and Circle K convenience stores. "PROpower contains a unique detergent technology that cleans out deposits on automotive intake valves and prevents new build up. And because it reduces emissions, PROpower promotes cleaner air," Shrader added. All grades of 76 gasoline will have the PROpower additive at no additional cost to the customer. PROpower will be available starting May 18, 1998, at all 2,400 76-branded retail sites nationwide. A NASCAR-themed PROpower advertising campaign will begin in conjunction with the launch of the new 76 additive in Arizona, California, Florida, Nevada and Hawaii. 76-brand gasoline with new PROpower is just one of the products marketed by Tosco Marketing Company that has official status with NASCAR. Circle K was named the "Official Pit Stop of NASCAR" last month, joining 76 as the "Official Fuel of NASCAR" and co-branded 76/NASCAR Motor Oil, which is used in many cars on the NASCAR Winston Cup series. Tosco Marketing Company, the retail division of the Stamford, Conn. - based Tosco Corporation, is responsible for a family of well-known convenience store and gasoline brands, including Circle K -- the Official Pit Stop of NASCAR and 76 gasoline -- the Official Fuel of NASCAR.
