Hewlett-Packard Dedicates Division to Automotive Solutions

Automotive Solutions Division to Focus Exclusively
On Electronics Technology for Automakers and Suppliers

PALO ALTO, Calif., May 14 -- As part of an ongoing effort to
enhance and focus its long-term commitment to the automotive industry,
Hewlett-Packard Company has dedicated a division to providing
industry customers with cost-effective, electronics technology. Formerly
known as the Integrated Systems Division, HP's Automotive Solutions Division
already has had years of experience serving the automotive business. Now the
division will concentrate exclusively on developing automotive solutions and
also will function as HP's automotive hub, helping customers leverage the
variety of technologies offered by the entire company. These include lighting
components, tools for developing automotive electronics and design solutions.
"Automotive manufacturers and suppliers are facing unprecedented pressure
to speed their products to market," said John Weidert, general manager of the
Automotive Solutions Division. "With more than 25 years of experience
assisting automotive customers, HP can ease this pressure with multiple
technology-based solutions. Our customers save time and money by not having
to develop specialized technologies on their own. We deliver our solutions
quickly, so the industry can keep pace with accelerated consumer demand.
"The division's new charter represents a significant strategic shift from
a horizontal, product market approach to a vertical, industry approach. We
now can focus on integrating solutions for the industry's problems, leveraging
technologies from every HP division. This shift reaffirms our seriousness
about the automotive business -- we're in it for the long haul."
HP's Automotive Solutions Division, based in Sunnyvale, Calif., operates
in key automotive centers around the world, including the United States,
Italy, France, Sweden, Germany and Japan.
