Federal-Mogul Announces Organizational Structure for Information TechnologySOUTHFIELD, Mich., May 11 -- Fred J. Kerns, vice president, Information Technology, Federal-Mogul Corporation , announces the organizational structure for Information Technology with the following appointments effective immediately: . David Bachleda - information technology director, Powertrain Systems . Ed Kupets - information technology director, Worldwide Aftermarket . Larry Smith - information technology director, Technical Services . David Mills, information technology executive, Sealing Systems . Graham Bruce - information technology executive, European Technical Services . Clive Johnson - information technology executive, European Aftermarket . Huw Pegler - information technology executive, European Sealing Systems . Les Watt - information technology executive, European Powertrain Systems "With the soon to be announced appointment of the information technology executives for General Products, we will have in place a senior information technology team that is committed to the objectives of providing strong support to the company's operating units and the deployment of common information technology across the organization," said Kerns. The North American-based positions have global information technology responsibilities and report directly to Kerns with strong functional relationships with the executive vice presidents of their respective operating units. The European-based positions will provide leadership for the company's information technology activities in Europe. They will report to Kerns and maintain strong functional relationships with both the European operating unit management and the North American-based information technology directors. David Bachleda - Information Technology Director, Powertrain Systems David Bachleda is appointed information technology director, Powertrain Systems. His responsibilities will include all systems strategic planning, integration and support for North American Powertrain operations. He will also coordinate global information technology support for worldwide Powertrain Systems. Bachleda joined Federal-Mogul in 1978 and has held information technology positions in operations and applications management. He has most recently led the company's project to ensure compliance with year 2000 requirements. Bachleda earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from Northwood University, Midland, Michigan. Ed Kupets - Information Technology Director, Worldwide Aftermarket Ed Kupets is appointed information technology director, Worldwide Aftermarket. He will have responsibility for all North American aftermarket systems, notably, distribution, sales and marketing. He will also coordinate global information technology support for the Worldwide Aftermarket operations. Kupets most recently held the position of information technology director for aftermarket logistics systems. He joined Federal-Mogul in 1975 and has held a succession of key positions in information technology. Kupets earned a Bachelor of Science degree in information and computer sciences from Point Park College, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Larry Smith - Information Technology Director, Technical Services Larry Smith is appointed information technology director, technical services. His responsibilities include the strategic planning, development and integration of the worldwide technical infrastructure to ensure maximum synergies and performance of the corporate technical environment. He is also responsible for the establishment of worldwide standards and development of the common technical environment. Smith joined Federal-Mogul in 1965 and has held a succession of key information technology positions in technical services. Smith earned a Bachelor of Science degree in industrial management from Lawrence Technological Institute, Southfield, Michigan. David Mills - Information Technology Executive, Sealing Systems David Mills is appointed information technology executive, Sealing Systems. His responsibilities will include all systems strategic planning, integration, and support for North American Sealing operations. He will also coordinate global information technology support for Sealing Systems. Mills joined Federal-Mogul 1996 and has held positions of increasing responsibility within information technology in the areas of aftermarket systems, project management, and the Year 2000 project office. Mills earned a Master of Business Administration degree in management information systems and a Bachelor of Science degree in financial management from the University of Buffalo, Buffalo, New York. Graham Bruce - Information Technology Executive, European Technical Services Graham Bruce is appointed information technology executive, European Technical Services. Working in conjunction with the corporate function, Graham has leadership responsibility for the planning, and deployment of network infrastructures, technical architectures, and computing centers in support of all Federal-Mogul operations within Europe. He also has specific responsibility for the operation of the European data center located in Manchester, England. Bruce joined T&N in 1969 and has held a succession of information technology and commercial positions of increasing responsibility. His most recent position was director, AE Systems which he assumed in 1991. Clive Johnson - Information Technology Executive, European Aftermarket Clive Johnson is appointed information technology executive, European Aftermarket. He will have responsibility for all systems strategic planning, integration, and support for European Aftermarket operations, including distribution, sales, and marketing. Johnson most recently held the position of director and general manager of AE Systems in Bradford, England, which he assumed in 1994. Johnson has worked for T&N companies in various information technology capacities since the mid 1970's. Johnson earned a Bachelor of Science 1st Class Honors degree from the University of Leeds, Leeds, England. Huw Pegler - Information Technology Executive, European Sealing Systems Huw Pegler is appointed information technology executive, European Sealing Systems. His responsibilities include all systems strategic planning, integration, and support for European Sealing operations. He will also be responsible for other information technology functions, including coordination of European Year 2000 and Economic Monetary Union efforts. Pegler joined T&N in 1991 and his most recent position was general manager, group management information services. Prior to joining T&N, he held various manufacturing and consulting positions with Rolls Royce and Price Waterhouse. Pegler earned a 1st Class Honors degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Birmingham, Birmingham, England. Les Watt - Information Technology Executive, European Powertrain Systems Les Watt is appointed information technology executive, European Powertrain Systems. His responsibilities will include all systems strategic planning, integration, and support for European Powertrain operations. Watt joined T&N in 1994 and most recently held the position of manager, information systems for the piston products group. Prior to joining T&N, Watt worked in a variety of management positions in both information technology and engineering companies, including SEMA Group, GEC, and IBM. Watt earned a Master of Business Administration degree from Manchester Business School, Manchester, England and a Bachelor of Science degree in electronics from the University of Leeds, Leeds, England. Fleischer joined Federal-Mogul 1996 and has held positions within the distribution and information technology organizations. Prior to joining Federal-Mogul, Fleischer held various leadership positions in logistics, product development, and systems management with the United States Army. Fleischer earned a Master of Business Administration degree from Ohio State University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from Princeton University, Princeton, New Jersey. Kathy Johnson - Information Technology Executive, Corporate Systems Kathy Johnson is appointed information technology executive, corporate systems. Her responsibilities include all systems strategic planning, integration, and support for Federal-Mogul's human resources, legal, corporate communications, corporate development, and corporate strategic planning functions. Additionally, Johnson will lead the organizational development process for information technology on a worldwide basis. Johnson joined Federal-Mogul in 1988, and has held positions of increasing responsibility supporting international distribution systems, and most recently held the position of account executive, international systems. Johnson earned a Bachelor of Business Management degree from the University of Michigan. Thomas Luttrell - Information Technology Executive, Product Management Systems Thomas Luttrell is appointed information technology executive, product management systems. His responsibilities include the planning, integration, and support of all product management systems within the North American Aftermarket operations. Luttrell joined Federal-Mogul in 1990 and has held positions of increasing responsibility within information technology. His most recent position was account executive, product applications. Luttrell earned a Bachelor of Science degree in computer information systems from Ferris State University, Big Rapids, Michigan. Robert Muylaert - Information Technology Executive, Sales and Marketing Systems Robert Muylaert is appointed information technology executive, sales and marketing systems. His responsibilities include the planning, integration, and support of all sales and marketing systems within the North American Aftermarket operations. Muylaert joined Federal-Mogul in 1974 and has held a succession of leadership positions within information technology. His most recent position was account executive, sales and marketing. Muylaert earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Management from Lawrence Technological Institute, Southfield, Michigan. Steve Paul - Information Technology Executive, Manufacturing and Process Support Systems Steve Paul is appointed information technology executive, manufacturing and process support systems. His responsibilities include the cross-operating unit planning and integration of manufacturing systems, including CAD/CAM and enterprise-wide systems. In addition, Paul will be responsible for supporting operating unit projects involving the deployment of information technology. Paul joined Federal-Mogul in 1984 and has held a variety of information technology leadership positions in Federal-Mogul's manufacturing operations. His most recent position was account executive, manufacturing and process support systems. Paul earned a Master of Science degree in secondary education from Indiana University and a Bachelor of Science degree in secondary education from Valparaiso University, Valparaiso, Indiana. Jeanette Szelong - Information Technology Executive, Electronic Commerce and Manufacturing Systems Jeanette Szelong is appointed information technology executive, electronic commerce and manufacturing systems. Her responsibilities include all systems strategic planning, integration, and support for Federal-Mogul's EDI and electronic commerce activities, manufacturing and quality systems, and environmental health and safety. She will also have responsibility for corporate financial systems until an information technology executive is appointed for that area. Szelong joined Federal-Mogul 1978 and has held positions of increasing responsibility within information technology in the areas of distribution, corporate and EDI systems. Her most recent position was account executive, electronic commerce. Szelong earned an Associate of Science degree in computer science from Schoolcraft College, Livonia, Michigan.
