Stewart & Stevenson's Truck Manufacturing Facility Receives ISO 9001 Quality Management System CertificationHOUSTON, May 6 -- Stewart & Stevenson Services, Inc. , Tactical Vehicle Systems Division (TVS), a leading manufacturer of military tactical vehicles has received ISO 9001 certification. The certification is by ABS Quality Evaluations, Inc., Houston, Texas, an independent, accredited, third party registrar. Certification covers the complete cycle from product design and development to manufacturing to field service. The comprehensive ISO 9001 level certification, granted in the United States to companies that establish and meet international quality system standards, was created by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). ISO standards are administered in the United States by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and the American Society for Quality (ASQ). We are all part of a team dedicated to providing the customer with the highest quality military tactical vehicle in the world." TVS produces a Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles (FMTV) in one of the most modern truck assembly plants in the United States. TVS is the prime contractor to the United States Army for its FMTV fleet requirements. The company will complete the first multi-year contract for 11,000 trucks in November 1998. TVS is currently in final negotiations on a second contract for an additional 9,000 vehicles to be built between 1999 and 2004.
