Meritor Automotive Names New Vice President, Materials And Logistics, Heavy Vehicle Systems

    TROY, Mich., May 4 -- Meritor Automotive, Inc.
announced the appointment of Jeff Waite to vice president, Materials and
Logistics.  The appointment supports the company's effort to continually
improve and innovate order entry, delivery, resource planning and global
aftermarket support for its Heavy Vehicle Systems (HVS) business.
    Waite has responsibility for materials and logistics management for plant
operations across HVS.  He will facilitate improvements to Meritor's order
"entry to delivery" process, including full, effective use of Enterprise
Resource Planning (ERP) technology.  Waite will also focus on plant support,
including planning, scheduling and logistics of Meritor's worldwide after-
market sales.  Waite will direct Meritor's regional, national and
international materials and logistics managers.
    Most recently serving as Meritor's director, Materials and Logistics,
Waite has more than 20 years of materials and logistics experience.  He served
in a number of increasingly responsible materials management positions with
Rockwell Automation prior to joining Meritor, including director, Materials
Management for Rockwell Automation's Control and Information Group.
    Waite received a bachelor's degree in industrial engineering from the
University of Wisconsin, Madison.
    Meritor, with 1997 sales of more than $3.3 billion, is a global supplier
of a broad range of components and systems for commercial, specialty and light
vehicles.  Meritor consists of two businesses:  Heavy Vehicle Systems, a
leading supplier of drivetrain systems and components for medium-and heavy-
duty trucks, trailers and off-highway equipment and specialty vehicles,
including military, bus and coach, and fire and rescue; and Light Vehicle
Systems, a major supplier of roof, door, access control and seat adjusting
systems, electric motors and electronic controls, suspension systems and
wheels for passenger cars, light trucks and sport utility vehicles.
