BMW Reports Strongest Month Ever; Sales Increases Across All Model Lines; Best Sales Month Ever for Z3 Roadsters
WOODCLIFF LAKE, N.J., May 4 -- Continuing its record-breaking
sales streak, BMW of North America, Inc. just closed its best month ever,
reporting April sales of 12,467 units, an increase of 12 percent over the
11,116 vehicles reported for the same period a year ago. Year-to-date sales
jumped 8 percent, from 40,252 to 43,406.
Sales increased across all model lines but demand for BMW's popular
5 Series models was especially strong, with sales of 3,153 vehicles. Sales of
BMW's popular Z3 roadsters were stronger than ever, with 2,436 vehicles
reported in April, up 25 percent over the same period a year ago.
Land Rover North America, Inc., a member of the BMW Group, reported April
sales of 1,696 vehicles down 11 percent over the same period last year.
Consolidated U.S. April sales for the two companies were 14,163 units, up
12 percent (BMW: 12,467; Land Rover: 1,696) and consolidated year-to-date
sales were 49,819 vehicles, up 7 percent (BMW: 43,406; Land Rover: 6,413).
