Borg-Warner Automotive Facility ISO 14001 Certified, Dixon, Ill.DIXON, Ill., May 4 -- Daniel Paterra, Plant Manager of Borg-Warner Automotive's Air/Fluid Systems Plant in Dixon, Ill., today announced that the facility has achieved ISO 14001 Certification. The facility is one of the first in the nation to receive the environmental international certification. ISO 14001 provides a single environmental framework for both national and international companies to reduce possible trade barriers caused by diverse governmental standards. The ISO 14001 standard can be objectively audited by a third party for certification. Borg-Warner Automotive's certifying agency was Underwriter Laboratories Inc. of Northbrook, Ill. "All the systems and components we manufacture for the automotive industry are directly responsible for improving emission levels. Certification to this standard is a natural extension of our commitment to look at the total impact our products have on the environment," said Mr. Paterra. Currently there are only 55 companies registered to the standard in the United States. "BWA Dixon wanted to move 'beyond compliance,' to establish an 'environmental leadership' position that involved every employee at the Dixon Plant," said Pat Smith, Environmental and Safety Coordinator. "The North American automotive industry, as a whole, has voluntarily accepted new stricter limitations on emission and Borg-Warner Automotive Air/Fluid Systems is here to support them in that total effort," said Mr. Paterra. Borg-Warner Automotive Air/Fluid Systems Corporation is a subsidiary of Borg-Warner Automotive, Inc. , a product leader of highly engineered drivetrain components and systems. The company operates manufacturing facilities in 12 countries serving the North American, European and Asian automotive markets. SOURCE Borg-Warner Automotive, Inc.
