Kia Sales Remain Strong; April Sales Reflect Company's Growth

    IRVINE, Calif., May 1 -- Kia Motors America today announced
retail sales of 5,530 vehicles for the month of April.  This figure
illustrates Kia's continuing trend of solid growth, as reflected by Kia's
year-to-date sales more than doubling those of last year.
    Kia is in the midst of its market-by-market roll-out, which will culminate
in a national dealer network by the end of 1998.  Kia now has nearly 400
dealerships in 39 states.
