Standard Products Receives Prestigious Awards from Toyota

    DEARBORN, Mich., April 27 -- The Standard Products Company
announced today that its Rocky Mount and Goldsboro (North
Carolina) plants earned both Quality and Delivery awards from Toyota Motor
Manufacturing North America, Inc. (TMMNA).
    The award was presented during TMMNA's annual Supplier Business Meeting
and Awards Ceremony in Cincinnati, April 9, 1998.  Awards are given annually
to suppliers providing the highest standards in quality, delivery, value
improvement and cost reduction for parts, materials, transportation and
export.
    Standard Products' Rocky Mount and Goldsboro plants earned the Quality
Performance Achievement Award for achieving superior parts per million (PPM)
quality levels and the Delivery Performance Achievement Award for 100% on-time
delivery performance.
    "Toyota's North American suppliers have helped Toyota provide an ongoing
tradition of quality American-built cars, trucks and mini-vans," said Noriyuki
Yokouchi, vice president of purchasing for TMMNA.  "These suppliers maintain
and often exceed our strict standards for quality."
    Standard Products manufactures sealing, trim and vibration control systems
for the automotive original equipment industry in North and South America and
Europe.  Its Holm Industries subsidiary produces seals for residential
refrigerators, freezers, doors and windows.  Its Oliver Rubber subsidiary
manufactures tread rubber and equipment for the truck-tire retread industry.
