Goodyear do Brasil Named GM Supplier of the Year

GM Supplier Award for Brazil

    MEXICO CITY, April 27 -- Goodyear do Brazil has been
recognized by General Motors as a Supplier of the Year for 1997.
    The recognition came at GM's annual supplier business meeting and awards
ceremony in Mexico City.  Goodyear Brazil was recognized as "among the Best of
the Best" suppliers for radial passenger tires.
    "Goodyear Brazil is truly globally competitive and, by virtue of this
reward, is recognized as a worldwide leader in product development,
technology, manufacturing, continuous improvement, value and most importantly,
quality," said Harold R. Kutner, GM's vice president for Worldwide Purchasing.
    "This is truly an honor for Goodyear Brazil, the Latin America Region and
Goodyear," said John C. Polhemus, vice president of Goodyear's Latin America
Region.  "This is confirmation of our focus on the customer."
    Accepting the award for Goodyear Brazil was Mike Roney, managing director
of Goodyear Brazil.
    "Our objective is always to please the customer," said Roney.  "We are
truly appreciative of this recognition.  It is a testimonial to Goodyear
Brazil's associates and the focus on protecting our good name by valuing our
customers."
    Goodyear Brazil was one of only 182 out of more than 30,000 companies to
receive this supplier award.  Goodyear Brazil manufactures radial passenger
and commercial truck tires and tires for many other applications at facilities
in Sao Paulo and Americana, Brazil.
