Land Rover Charleston To Celebrate Land Rover's 50th Anniversary

    CHARLESTON, W.Va., April 22 -- Land Rover Charleston
announced today that it would participate in a nationwide celebration of Land
Rover's 50th Anniversary.  The company known for building the world's most
prestigious and capable sport-utility vehicles has invited all Land Rover
owners to attend an anniversary party on the evening of April 30th.
    The first Land Rover was shown at the Amsterdam Motor Show on April 30th,
1948.  With an 80-inch wheelbase and seating for only two, the original Land
Rover was an instant success with demand quickly surpassing expectation.  Land
Rover vehicles are now legendary in over 120 countries worldwide.
    The evening celebration at Land Rover Charleston, located on Corridor G at
Southridge, will feature an invitation-only dinner with a birthday cake
cutting, a drawing for a trip for two to the exclusive Land Rover Lodge in
Colorado, and a national sweepstakes for a vintage Land Rover vehicle.
    In its continuing effort to preserve our nation's ecological resources,
Land Rover North America has donated $10,000 to the American Zoo and Aquarium
Association (AZA) in honor of Land Rover's 50th Anniversary.
