named senior vice president of global manufacturing operations, Donnelly
Corporation announced today. In this newly created position,
Scaffede will be responsible for implementing lean manufacturing processes
throughout Donnelly's worldwide operations. In addition to his new

Donnelly's North American manufacturing operations.
"Like all world-class automotive suppliers, Donnelly needs to have
consistent, robust manufacturing processes in place in all its locations,"
said Dwane Baumgardner, chairman and chief executive officer. "Russ has
extensive experience in lean manufacturing processes, and has been
instrumental in the highly successful implementation of lean manufacturing
techniques in our North American operations. Now those same techniques will
be adapted to our European and emerging market locations, further
strengthening Donnelly's ability to serve our customers around the world."
Scaffede, 48, joined Donnelly as vice president of manufacturing in
October 1995. Before joining Donnelly, Scaffede worked as vice president

Scaffede played a key role in the start-up of TMM, which successfully
integrated the Toyota Production System with an American workforce.
Prior to joining Toyota, Scaffede worked for 18 years in a variety of
manufacturing positions at General Motors Corporation. He has also worked as
a consultant with several U.S. corporations to develop lean manufacturing
