Timken Company Shareholders Re-elect Directors; Robert Anderson Retires from BoardCANTON, Ohio, April 21 -- At The Timken Company's Annual Meeting of Shareholders, Ward J. Timken, Martin D. Walker and Charles H. West were re-elected as directors of the company. Their three-year terms will expire at the annual meeting in the year 2001. Robert Anderson, 77 and chairman emeritus of Rockwell International Corporation, announced his retirement from the Timken board after serving as a director for 10 years. "Bob has brought extraordinary vision and experience to our board and has been instrumental in shaping successful business strategies for our company over the years," said W. R. Timken, Jr., chairman, president and CEO. "We will miss his wisdom." The number of directors on the board has been changed to 11 to reflect Mr. Anderson's retirement. The remaining eight directors are as follows: J. Clayburn La Force, Jr., Robert W. Mahoney, Jay A. Precourt and Joseph F. Toot, Jr., whose terms expire at the 1999 annual meeting; and Stanley C. Gault, John M. Timken, Jr., W. R. Timken, Jr., and Alton W. Whitehouse, whose terms expire at the 2000 annual meeting.
