Sheldahl Operations Awarded QS-9000 Quality CertificationNORTHFIELD, Minn., April 20 -- Sheldahl, Inc. , announced that its Northfield interconnect and technical materials manufacturing plants, its Britton and Aberdeen, S.D. assembly sites, and Detroit Technical Center had achieved QS-9000 certification. The certification recognizes Sheldahl's achievement of QS-9000 quality requirements, which are the automotive industry's rigorous upgrade to ISO 9001, emphasizing continuous improvement and defect prevention. For example, QS-9000 requires that a company reduce product variations and waste in order to achieve zero defects shipped. QS-9000 is enforced by Chrysler, Ford, General Motors, and other industry leaders, who require the certification of all suppliers and sub- suppliers as a prerequisite to doing business. Said Edward L. Lundstrom, Sheldahl's President, "In the short span of a year, our automotive-related operations have achieved a great milestone. QS-9000 represents a step beyond the ISO 9001 and 9002 status achieved by our operations two years ago. It is the mark of a company that is truly knowledgeable and dedicated to the automotive industry. Certification should help us achieve a top berth in our target automotive segments."
