Ruling Favors Nissan Decision to Terminate Newport News Dealer

    WASHINGTON, April 10 -- The following is a statement by
Nissan in response to today's decision by the Virginia Department of Motor
Vehicle Commissioner regarding Mr. Bob Crumpler, owner of Denbigh Nissan:

    "Today's decision reaffirms our belief that Mr. Crumpler engaged in
discourteous customer practices that provide Nissan grounds to terminate the
dealership.
    "While we are gratified by the Commissioner's decision, we regret the toll
this ordeal has taken on NewPort News residents over the last 15 months. We
wish to thank all those who offered their support.
    "Looking ahead, Nissan hopes to reestablish its positive relationship and
reputation with its many valued customers and friends in the community."
