Indiana Suppliers Earn Awards From Toyota
ERLANGER, Ky., April 9 -- NSK Corporation, a wheel bearings
supplier located in Franklin, Ind., has received its second Superior Award
from Toyota Motor Manufacturing North America, Inc. (TMMNA). The company also
won its fourth consecutive Excellent Award this year for delivery.
The Superior Award is the highest recognition possible for any of Toyota's
North American suppliers. Superior Awards and Excellent Awards are given in
the areas of quality, delivery, value improvement, and cost reduction for
parts, materials, transportation and export. The awards were announced by
TMMNA at its annual Supplier Business Meeting and Awards Ceremony tonight in
Cincinnati.
In addition to NSK Corporation, two other Indiana parts and materials
suppliers earned Superior Awards. They are: Delphi-Delco Electronics Systems,
located in Kokomo and producing audio parts; and GT Automotive, located in
Logansport and producing bumper springs. This is the first Superior Award
earned by Delphi-Delco Electronics Systems. GT Automotive received a Superior
Award for quality in 1996.
Gecom Corporation, a door latch systems supplier located in Greensburg,
also won an Excellent Award for export quality.

our suppliers," said Noriyuki Yokouchi, Vice President of Purchasing for
TMMNA. "Our outstanding Indiana suppliers have helped us earn a reputation for
producing the finest cars built in America."
TMMNA has more than 40 parts and materials suppliers in Indiana and
approximately 500 across North America. Each year, Toyota purchases more than
$7 billion worth of parts and materials from North American suppliers.
TMMNA, which supports North American manufacturing operations, is located
in the Greater Cincinnati area in Erlanger, Ky. Toyota currently manufactures
vehicles at three North American plants located in Georgetown, Ky.; Fremont,
Calif.; and Cambridge, Ontario. In addition, a fourth vehicle plant in
Princeton, Ind., will open in 1998, and a new engine plant is currently under
construction in Buffalo, W. Va.
Overall, 12 North American parts and materials suppliers won Superior
Awards, 33 won Excellent Awards and many received Certificates of Achievement.
