Chrysler Financial Reports Record First Quarter Earnings

    SOUTHFIELD, Mich., April 9 -- Darrell L. Davis, Chairman of
Chrysler Financial Corporation (CFC), today announced the Company reported
record first quarter 1998 net earnings of $108 million.  This represents a 16
percent increase from first quarter of 1997.  The Company also reported record
first quarter 1998 pretax earnings of $160 million, 13 percent higher than
first quarter 1997.
