Audiovox Announces New Multi-Million Dollar Management Information SystemHAUPPAUGE, N.Y., April 7 -- Audiovox Corporation (Amex: VOX) announced today the successful installation of its new multi-million dollar management information system (MIS), which will give the Company global MIS control, fulfillment capability and resolve the Y2K problem. Called Enterprise-Wide Information System (EIS), the new program is the latest version of the JD Edwards software package that Audiovox currently uses for its accounting, sales, distribution, warehousing and purchasing operations. Richard Maddia, Vice President of Audiovox's MIS department and a director of the corporation, states that by replacing the Company's older system, Audiovox also positions itself for multi-language growth. "The system," he said, "lets us transmit and receive all MIS data from global sources to the United States. It allows us to process and communicate data quickly and efficiently from corporate headquarters to our offices and field personnel throughout the United States and around the world. Best of all, the Enterprise-Wide Information System is a local language based system." "Another key component of this new system is the fulfillment capability, which we expect to use extensively in our cellular subsidiary. This capability gives us advanced inventory management from the time we receive our products from our suppliers to the time we ship them to our customer base. By employing RF bar code scanning with MIS, we have what can truly be called a state-of-the-art fulfillment capability." Audiovox plans system upgrades to the EIS program on an eighteen month basis. Maddia feels that with EIS, the Audiovox MIS team will be able to provide the Company's marketing groups with the technical support and real-time information they need to conduct national and international business into the 21st century.
